I've got lots to share today, so let's dive right in!

Forward to a friend (F2F) spam issues, from Formmail to FTC’s action against Jumpstart, and even a recent Microsoft exploit, these are things that I wrote about back in December, and I recently updated that article in light of a friend asking about the potential for compliance risks around F2F/referral emails.

On July 11th, Jennifer Nespola Lantz and I held a Microsoft, MAGY & More webinar, covering the latest in Microsoft email bulk sender requirements. Find more info and a link to the (ungated) recording below.

I’ll be speaking at Netroots Nation on August 7th. This three day in-person event held in New Orleans is meant to provide training, resources and connection opportunities to help progressive activists. Sandro Cocito (NGP VAN) and yours truly from Valimail will be presenting on the topic of deliverability and sender best practices, as we often do. It’s a great opportunity to be able to educate a different audience on email sender requirements and I’m very much looking forward to it. Let me know if I might see you there.

Tired of the cheating CEO memes? Me too, especially the ones targeting the cheating CEO's wife and kids. I swear, there are some people who would happily post a photo of an open casket to Linkedin alongside something like "Here's what grandma's recent passing taught me about how to leverage the power of A.I. in B2B sales motions." Yuck. Not everything is a legit content opportunity.

My tools and data website Wombatmail has been tweaked slightly, and now you can even see the list and send stats for this very newsletter. Why? Why not. Let me know if you find that interesting. (Yes, I know, opens are fake, don't trust them, etc. etc.)

And now, the articles from the past week.

B2B Senders: Do you have to comply?
I've heard the question more than once: "Do Gmail and Microsoft's new sender requirements really apply to us? We're B2B. We're not sending to consumers." Why you might think not ... read more

The Gmail subscription management feature has landed
Way back in April 2024, I shared that Google was working on adding a new “subscription management” feature to Gmail. And shared how similar functionality looked at the time in Yahoo and Microsoft webmail platforms. Looks like Google’s finally ready to go with their version. And it’s pretty straight forward. As announced this past week, Gmail is ... read more
MAGY Mandates: Microsoft Sender Requirements and the Bigger Picture
Last week, yours truly (Al Iverson from Valimail) was joined by my friend Jennifer Nespola Lantz from Kickbox for a deep dive webinar on Microsoft's new bulk sender requirements and how they fit into the bigger "MAGY" (Microsoft, Apple, Gmail, and Yahoo) landscape and overall email ecosystem. read more
Friday fun: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet
Before my current life in this email universe, I worked in print production and pre-press, helping to assemble assemble advertising layouts for various ad agencies and brands, utilizing tools like Quark Xpress, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to type, draw, retouch and finalize everything for output, usually on large film imagesetters to ... read more
How the military made Spam an iconic American brand
A bonus article from the archives (Tuesday, December 03, 2019)
I hope everybody survived Black Friday and Cyber Monday! It's still a busy week but when you've got things under control, why not take a break and spend it reading about how the military made Spam (the food) an iconic American brand, courtesy of Navy Times. read more
And that's all for now! Thanks for reading.
