Yo, deliverability friends! Al Iverson here. It's that time again.

Some days, I've got lots of amazing content to share with you. This might not be one of those days. I know, I know, spam flavors? What?! Well, it is what it is. Sometimes it's not always easy to scrape together new and unique deliverability insights. I hope you'll forgive me, and maybe even enjoy the read. Did you even know that there were thirteen kinds of spam?

Also, last week's lead article (" Five email newsletter must-haves in 2025") really seemed to catch folks' attention, with over 700 views. Woohoo! If you missed it the first time, check it out!

Have a great week and thanks for reading! I appreciate you. (And do let me know if you're having trouble with Apple Mail on iOS 18.5. I'm very curious who among us may be affected.)

Email service OnMail to shut down
OnMail, Edison Software's privacy-focused email service, will officially shut down on July 31, 2025. This marks the end of their attempt to reimagine the inbox experience with features like sender approval, anti-tracking protections, and custom domain support. I first covered OnMail back in September 2020, when it launched as a ... read more
Five email newsletter must-haves in 2025
This isn't a click-baity headline sneakily chosen to attract random SEO attention, I promise you. Instead, today I share five things that I have personally AND recently been frustrated by; failures in the execution of other peoples' email newsletters. Missing features and choices that made it difficult for me to celebrate and share your ... read more
FTC Assesses Primary Purpose of Emails in CAN SPAM Enforcement
A bonus article from the archives (Tuesday, August 29, 2023)
As mentioned earlier, the FTC recently announced a proposed settlement with Experian, taking action against them for allegedly sending commercial emails while claiming those emails were transactional in nature. Meaning that users effectively couldn't opt-out from email messaging that was ultimately believed by the FTC to be commercial in ... read more
And that's all for now! Thanks for reading.
