Greetings from finest Hampton Inn in the suburbs of Pittsburgh this morning, where I've stopped on my way to Washington DC, ahead of presenting at the ESPC meetup tomorrow. Hope to see you there!

Sometimes it's hard to know whether or not you should go to a given event or party. At first, the ghost wasn't going to go to the Halloween party. After all, he had no body to go with. But then he decided to attend anyway, because he really was just in it for the boos. 👻 🍸

This week I would like to send a special shout out to Peter Ansbacher for helping me explain why Google Postmaster Tools is so helpful. Thank you, Peter!

Also: Would you consider filling out the Valimail BIMI survey mentioned below? I'd be very grateful. And you might win a $50 gift card! Thanks in advance.

It's spooky! It's scary! It's Apple iOS 18.2! Get ready.

Apple: Big changes ahead
Some email marketers do seem to be freaking out about the upcoming changes to Apple Mail after seeing screenshots of inboxes from the forthcoming iOS 18.2 update. I don't think it's the end of the world -- and I'm not even totally convinced that Apple Mail is in a long term final state -- but it's good to be aware of what's going on here so we ... read more

Hey, allow me to put on my Valimail hat for a moment (as you may remember, I work for DMARC provider Valimail) and ask a favor of you: Would you be willing to participate in a short BIMI survey? We're looking to understand email industry (particularly marketer) awareness of BIMI and BIMI-related things that have been announced lately (think ... read more

Cox.net now a Yahoo domain
If you're one of those people who rolls up domains to groupings based on mailbox provider, you'll want to take note of this one. As of sometime in October, the MX record for cox.net has been updated. Previously, mail was handled by cloudfilter.net, which appears to be owned by Cloudmark/Proofpoint. Now, the MX record for cox.net points to ... read more
Tuesday Tip: You need Google Postmaster Tools
Are you having trouble delivering mail to Gmail subscribers? Then you need Google Postmaster Tools. It is the single source of truth when it comes to understanding what Google sees as your sending reputation, and vitally important for monitoring as you nurse your email campaigns back to health in response to a deliverability or reputation issue. read more
FBLs in 2023: are they needed? How should you handle them?
A bonus article from the archives (Thursday, September 21, 2023)
As noted recently, Validity plans to start charging for ISP feedback loop complaint feeds. Free users will get some sort of aggregate dashboard that is perhaps similar to what one sees in Google Postmaster Tools, but it sounds as though there will be no individual complaints fed, and no opportunity to log or unsubscribe complaints or ... read more
And that's all for now! Thanks for reading.
